20th Century Murder
On Crory lane in 1931 a shocking discovery was made by the local postman on his midday rounds. There lying on the ground was sixty-five year old Elizabeth Reck who had been beaten to death.
Elizabeth and her brother Francis were farmers of the surrounding area, and under their employ was a fifty eight year old man by the name Henry Carty. An ongoing dispute over a wage increase that had not been honoured, led to the gruesome outcome on July 10th when Carty lost self-control.
